Games I Keep Close.

Little thoughts on the games that stayed with me.

Games That I Love and Want to Replay Someday.

These are games I still love and could see myself returning to one day. Some of them are childhood favorites. Some of them are games I never fully got to experience the way I wanted.

Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution favorite fighting game / quest mode / customization

This just might be my favorite fighting game of all time. Even though I've played Virtua Fighter 5, and with the announcement of VF6, I still have really fond memories of this game.

The quest mode. The customization. It was simple, but it had me in a chokehold for months.

Game Note: This game is probably the reason I get so attached to tiny forgotten game details.
Xenosaga Episode II Xenosaga Episode II childhood RPG / puzzles / labyrinth feeling

Another one of those games I was fond of as a child. I got stuck so many times on the puzzles and boss fights. I did end up beating it with my cousin, but I would like to replay this game alone.

Because of these things, it took me around a year to “beat” the game. Since the time was so blurred, it seemed like this game could have lasted forever. I miss labyrinths like this.

Final Fantasy XII Final Fantasy XII long save file / soundtrack / side content

I spent so many hours in this game as well. One of my longest Final Fantasy saves, only second to Final Fantasy X-2.

There is so much side content, and the soundtrack was amazing. I do love the cast of characters as well. I'm using Balther as the face, because my younger brother used to call him "Butler" HAHA

Project Justice Rival Schools 2 Project Justice: Rival Schools 2 early 2000s favorite / underrated fighter

An absolute favorite back in the early 2000s! There hasn't been another fighting game like it, and I hope one day they bring it back.

I'm not sure if a lot of people really know about the game. It was one of those games you just had to be around at the time to truly experience it. But hey, if you're reading this and want a new fighting game, check it out!

Shenmue II Shenmue II peaceful background noise / 2006 memory

I played this in 2006, and loved it. Everything about it. I would really have to set time to play this game, and fully experience all it has to offer.

Sometimes I will have the OST, or just random videos of the civilians talking in the background. It's a peaceful kind of background noise.

Soulcalibur VI Soulcalibur VI Steam library / trying to get into it

I currently have this game on Steam, but I don't play it as much. I was really fond of Soulcalibur V, but due to not having a console or computer at the time, Soulcalibur VI was just not something I had access to.

Now that I do, I struggle to really get into the game like how I want.

Baldur's Gate 3 Baldur's Gate 3 Steam backlog / massive time sink

Another game collecting dust in my Steam library. I was hooked for a while, but I feel that I simply don't have the time to play it the way that I want to.

I can play for hours, and my day is up. Since I work five days out of the week, I like to soak up my downtime, and this game takes ALL of my downtime haha.

Space Channel 5 Part 2 Space Channel 5 Part 2 Ulala / funky / rhythm game joy

I love love love Ulala. I mean sure, I'm not the best at this game, but it was so fun and engaging.

I love the little quirks and character profiles of the people you save too. Plus Ulala was so cute and funky!

Games That I Love, But Wouldn't Play Again.

These are games I still respect or love, but I do not feel the need to return to them. Some stories are complete. Some games belong to a past era.

Eternal Sonata Eternal Sonata loved once / combat system / no replay needed

I remember being crazy about this game in 2007, but didn't really get a chance to play it until around 2010. I love the characters and the combat system. However, I didn't care much for the story.

I beat the game, but ever since, I never really looked back. I would recommend it to anyone, but I don't think it's worth a replay.

Final Fantasy X-2 Final Fantasy X-2 first FF / top 3 / dresspheres / retired

My very first Final Fantasy that I played on my own. I have beaten this game over 10 times trying to get 100 percent. It's one of my top 3 FF games, and I love Yuna, Rikku, and Paine.

However, I've done this story so many times. I feel that I could play it again, but I don't want to fall back into that rabbit hole again haha. The dressphere mechanic was so unique and fun to me.

Final Fantasy XIII Saga Final Fantasy XIII Saga favorite RPG saga / XIII-2 took my heart

Another one of my favorite RPGs. I loved the story and the characters, but Final Fantasy XIII-2 took my heart. I love Noel and Serah.

I would play that one again, but the others such as Lightning Returns and the original, no. I had fun playing them, but replaying would be pointless for me.
