Characters I Keep Close.
Just a few of my favorite fictional people.
All-Time Favorite Characters.
These are the characters that stayed with me for one reason or another. Some of them shaped my online identity. Some of them carried me through hard times. Some of them are just stylish, sassy, and impossible for me to forget.
Ayane
Dead or Alive / Sassy butterfly queen.
Ayane is definitely my favorite character of all time. She is so unique, and I love her purple hair. I have also always loved how sassy she is.
But beyond that, I can sympathize with how she was treated as a kid. It reminded me of my own issues, so in a way we were like two peas in a pod.
Her theme, Prismatic Butterfly, is a name that I have carried with me throughout my life, and I plan to get a tattoo of it sometime soon.
It has been a long time since I have played a Dead or Alive game, but I have not forgotten about my sassy butterfly girl.
Yuna
Final Fantasy / Spira's best girl.
I am not sure exactly how Yuna became one of my favorite characters. Paine used to be my favorite out of the YRP trio, but since Yuna was the main character, over time she started to grow on me.
There is a quote she says right before the Yunalesca fight in Final Fantasy X:
That stuck with me during the hard times of my life, and I have never forgotten it to this day. I keep those words in my heart, and I think that alone is what makes her a favorite character for me.
Eileen
Virtua Fighter 5 / Monkey girl power.
Eileen takes me back to the summer of 2006. Going to the library, discovering YouTube for the first time, and spending hours watching Virtua Fighter competitive fights.
When I first saw her, I was amazed. I loved her design, her fighting style, and her overall energy.
I even named my YouTube account after her. She is tied to a very specific internet memory for me, and I hope they bring her back in the new series.
Aoi
Virtua Fighter / The graceful and fierce.
She is beauty. She is grace. She will slap you in the face.
I have been an Aoi main since the early days of Virtua Fighter 4, and she is just a breath of fresh air. I love her personality and her fighting style.
Virtua Fighter has never really been about having story modes, so I do not know much about her backstory other than her being friends with Akira, the main character of the series.
I hope she joins the roster in the new game too. I would love to know more about her.
Kula Diamond
King of Fighters / Cute ice queen
I never played a lot of King of Fighters games, but you cannot miss Kula.
Her blowing ice onto opponents and freezing them, skating across the stage, and keeping a cutesy vibe while doing so? What is not to love about her? She just has a really cool and unique asthetic, and I have always been drawn to her design.
Lili
Tekken / It's time for afternoon tea.
I have loved Lili since her first trailer, and once I played Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, I became a Lili main.
Not only do I love her aesthetic, but she is goofy as hell. I miss her English voice, though.
It is a shame they evolved her character so much around Asuka. It was a weird choice, but I am not too angry about it. I still need to play Tekken 8.
Citrine
Xenosaga / The orange wild card.
Citrine is a minor character in the Xenosaga series and the sister of one of the main cast. She does not really have a well fleshed out story, but she ended up being a boss in the last game.
I remember raging so hard trying to fight her, and because of that she became memorable for me.
I doubt many people remember her, know her, or even care, but she is pretty cool and she is quite sassy. It makes me wish they had fleshed out Jr. and his past with her a bit more. I really really love minor characters for some reason. Is it weird to like a gemstone based on a character probably no one remembers? Hmm perhaps haha.
Xianghua
Soulcalibur / cheerful, graceful, and fun to play
I have to say that Xianghua is probably my next favorite character after Ayane. This goes all the way back to the very first Soulcalibur game.
I have always loved everything about her. She is cheerful, graceful, and really fun to play. Her designs were always so beautiful, and honestly, she is the whole package.
I have mained her in every game she was in, and I am glad she played an important role in the series.
